Sigma Phi Delta-Kappa Chapter

The Kappa Chapter of Sigma Phi Delta Fraternity, founded on May 25th, 1947, is the premier professional engineering fraternity at Trine University in Angola, Indiana. Established to advance the engineering profession and education, the fraternity fosters cooperation among engineering students and embodies ideals of virtuous manhood, good citizenship, and scholarship excellence.

With roots tracing back to post-World War II, the Kappa Chapter was established under the initiative of Brother LeRoy Horpendahl, who recognized the necessity for an engineering fraternity on campus. The chapter quickly expanded, beginning with thirty-five members and ultimately installing thirty-nine undergraduates as its founding members.
