Prairie Grass Observatory
Prairie Grass Observatory, located at Camp Cullom between Mulberry and Frankfort, Indiana, offers public access to dark rural skies and a range of astronomical viewing opportunities. Operated with technical assistance from the Wabash Valley Astronomical Society, the observatory is equipped with four telescopes, including a 28-inch Dobsonian and a 16-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain, along with giant binoculars for extensive celestial observation.
Recognized as an official asteroid tracking discovery station, Prairie Grass Observatory has contributed to the discovery of 20 asteroids and continues to conduct follow-up observations of near-earth asteroids. The facility is also home to a vibrant community of amateur astronomers who engage in discussions and arrange viewing events through its public email list.
