History

Philip G. Shirley established a veterinary practice in Pendleton after arriving from his home in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Shirley Animal Hospital remained in the Shirley family for several generations. In 1971, Dr. Phillip R. Shirley relocated the hospital to its present location immediately north of the historic falls in Pendleton. Dr. Bonnie M. Pilbeam bought the practice from Dr. Shirley in 1993. Pets & Vets became the hospital's current name on January 1, 2004.
