Greg Schmieder, M.D., joined Norton Vascular Associates in July 2008. Dr. Schmieder recently completed a fellowship in vascular surgery from Eastern Virginia Medical School. Prior to his fellowship he completed a general surgery residency and an additional fellowship in surgical critical care at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Leigh A. Nieto, M.D., is a pediatrician with Norton Children’s Medical Group – Clarksville. She earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and completed her residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Healthcare Center in Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Nieto adores caring for kids and witnessing their growth into healthy adults. She takes a personalized approach to her practice, engaging directly with children to make their health care experiences enjoyable. She involves parents in discussions to address any concerns and ensure comprehensive care. She particularly enjoys helping children with ADHD, guiding them through challenges in school and celebrating their successes when they overcome obstacles with the right treatment. Originally from Holland, Indiana, Dr. Nieto moved to the Louisville area with her husband. Outside of work, she treasures spending time with her family, going out to eat, attending sporting events and playing with her daughter.

Kate B. Prewitt, APRN, is a pediatric nurse practitioner with Norton Children’s Medical Group – Lakeview. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Bellarmine University and her master’s degree in nursing from Spalding University, both in Louisville. Kate has dedicated her career to caring for children and supporting families. After working as a mother-baby nurse, she chose to become a nurse practitioner to take a more active role in patient care. She also is a board-certified lactation consultant, helping mothers navigate breastfeeding and exploring various feeding strategies tailored to their needs. Kate’s philosophy of care is centered on providing a compassionate, supportive environment where patients and their families feel safe and valued. She strives to empower parents, helping them feel confident and supported in their parenting journey, whether they’re breastfeeding, bottle-feeding or using other methods to care for their child. Outside of work, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband, their twins, and their lively rescue dog. The family loves outdoor adventures, arts and crafts, and exploring parks and hiking trails. In her free moments, Kate likes to read and listen to Taylor Swift — she’s a big Swiftie!
