History

The owners, Dave and Carolyn Johnston opened this gem in 1971 on the first day of the town street fair that happens right downtown. The previous owners, Howard and Mimi Wheery owned it for about 10 years before them but part of that time it was in a different location. Dave and Carolyn fixed it up, changed the menu a bit and the rest was history. When first opened, there was 12 stools at the counter and one booth. In 1981, they decided to expand and added another counter with seven more stools and five more booths. That same year, Dave hired a local artist, Kenny Allen to paint a mural on the side and back wall. A scene of Coney Island in NY is depicted by a giant rollercoaster and a beach on the side wall. The owners are painted in a hot air balloon amongst other balloons on the back wall. The menu items have been, for the most part, the same throughout the years and the locals have been coming in for decades, ordering their favorites.

Specialties

We are a small town restaurant with a small town atmosphere! We are known for the coney dogs but also have a nice variety of other American diner food classics: chicken, burgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, onion rings...all the good stuff. We are inexpensive, fast, and friendly; what more could you ask for?
