History

I've had a camera in my hands most of my life, but really began to study the science and art of photography in 1980. Slides and negatives show the progression of my art. I got my business started by selling note cards featuring photos of landmarks in Madison, IN, then had prints made for sale. I began to get requests to photograph weddings and families. That's when I registered my business in IN. I gathered scenic shots in 2005 and presented my first calendar for the year 2006. This is a tradition I continue to this day. We moved from Mulberry Street to Main Street in 2009 - With more space, I began to offer framing. I joined the Professional Photographers of America in 2010, taking advantage of their wonderful continuing education opportunities. Learning never stops! I was the featured artist for the 2010 Madison Chautauqua poster - the only photographer ever so honored I teach photography classes at the Outdoor Women event at Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge.

Stephanie Hellmann specializes in capturing personalities in portraiture. Nice Shots! offers a Baby's First Year program, photographing your child through the incredible changes that happen so fast! Children are favorites here - cute, shy, silly and sassy - I will get pictures you will love. Each graduating senior is special and I have great locations to share with you during your session. All sessions are posted on my website - you decide if you want them accessible to the public or password protected. This is a great way to share with out of town relatives and friends.
