About Dr. Fletcher It was during an appointment with a pediatrician, that McKindra Fletcher, MD, started to think about becoming a doctor. A graduate of University of Illinois, Urbana, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree, Dr. Fletcher went on to earn his medical degree at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Springfield, IL. He completed medical internships at University of California-Irvine, Orange, CA, and Veterans Administration Hospital, Long Beach, CA. For an internal medicine residency, he returned to his alma mater, Southern Illinois University. Finally, a cardiology fellowship was fulfilled at University of Illinois Medical Center, Chicago. The list of procedures Dr. Fletcher performs includes: Coronary Angiography; Left Ventricular Angiography; Right and Left Heart Catheterizations; Coronary Interventional Procedures including Balloon Angioplasty; Stent Deployment; Thrombus Aspiration; Rotational Athrectomy; Intravascular Lithotripsy; Intravascular Ultrasound; Ocular Coherence Tomography; and Peripheral Angiography and Intervention. In addition to performing surgeries, Dr. Fletcher has held various administrative positions at hospitals and health centers, such as medical director, chief of staff and, most recently, Chairman, Department of Cardiology. Intrigued by cardiology classes during medical school, he was led to pursue this specialty, where he diagnoses and treats heart disease. Dr. Fletcher says, “I listen carefully to patients and recommend treatment relative to that particular patient. I treat my patients they way I would want to be treated. Through the years, he says he has learned that patients appreciate honest and sincerity. Dr. Fletcher hopes that above all else, his patients know he genuinely cares about them. In his own words… Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life? My mother for taking care of our family through difficult times. What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? Shining shoes at my uncle’s barbershop. Taught me how to listen and communicate. What is your favorite food? Movie? Best was history; worst was physics If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? Former President Barack Obama; great intellect and insight. In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? I love animals, especially horses. What are your hobbies, interests? Reading. What is something most people don’t know about you? I love all types of music.

Dr. Aslam received his medical degree from King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan and Masters in Public Health / Health Administration from University of Oklahoma-health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City. He completed his internal medicine residency at Chicago Medical School, Rosalind Franklin University, cardiology fellowship at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, Illinois and Interventional cardiology fellowship at Aurora St. Luke's Hospital / University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is board-certified in cardiology, nuclear medicine, interventional cardiology and endovascular medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a fellow of the society of cardiac angiography and intervention. He serves as faculty at University of Indiana School of Medicine as Voluntary assistant Professor. He is currently Medical Director of Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists at South Bend as well as Medical Director of Cardiac Cath Lab at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. He serves on the Governing Council of the Beacon Heart & Vascular & Stroke Center and various quality and peer review committees. He formerly served as director of Cardiac Rehabilitation at Memorial Hospital of South Bend and director of ICU and Cardiopulmonary Services at Grandview Hospital in Michigan He has special interest in coronary, peripheral and endovascular interventions, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), as well as structural heart diseases.
