Purina Mills, in conjunction with Land O'Lakes Purina Feed, is the largest producer and marketer of animal nutrition products in the United States. Its products are identified by the checkerboard logo and the Chow brand name. The company produces a complete line of commercial animal products, as well as a line of horse, pet and specialty animal products under numerous brand names, such as Omolene, Equine Senior, Lean Generation, Impact, Ultimate EXT and Layena. The company's subsidiaries, PMI Nutrition and PMI Nutrition International produce and market products under the PMI Nutrition and PMI Nutrition International brands. Purina Mills' products are distributed through a nationwide network of Purina dealers and direct customers. Purina Mills was founded in 1894 as a producer of horse and mule feed. Headquartered in St. Louis, Purina Mills has manufacturing plants throughout the United States, including one in Richmond, Ind.
