The LaPorte County Sheriff's Department offers law enforcement services and ensures safe travel on highways, waterways, roads and parks. The department maintains patrol, warrant, records and civil divisions, as well as a detective bureau and information desk. It has a team of of specialized detectives who are assigned to various investigations related to homicide, child abuse, sex-related crimes, robbery and other offenses. In addition, LaPorte County Sheriff's Department offers investigation on crimes against property, such as burglary, arson, vehicle theft, forgery, and fraud and identity deception. The department also provides jail renovation projects on a periodical basis. It has an office in LaPorte, Ind.
