The Garfield Park Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library has a rich history dating back to 1918 when it was first established at the old School No. 34. In 1965, a new branch was built at the current Shelby Street location, eventually reopening in 2011 as the Garfield Park Branch to honor the residents' attachment to the nearby Garfield Park.
