Located in Indianapolis, Indiana State Library is owned and operated by the government of Indianapolis. The library coordinates a program in which trained volunteer tutors assist adults in basic reading, writing and math skills, preparing for the GED test and learning English as a foreign language. It has a collection of books related to the history and culture of Indiana. In addition, it houses government publications, newspapers, genealogy and library science materials, as well as books related to American history, politics and economics. Its collection is used for research purposes by state agency employees, scholars, genealogists, librarians, students, Indiana residents who are blind or physically challenged and the general public.
