Indiana Jewish Historical Society
The Indiana Jewish Historical Society (IJHS), founded in 1972 and headquartered in Indianapolis, is dedicated to collecting, preserving, publishing, and sharing the Jewish experience in Indiana. As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization, it actively promotes the preservation of historic Jewish buildings, markers, and cemeteries while engaging the community through programs like the Hoosier Jewish Legends Awards and the IN-Jewish History Podcast.
With former archival holdings now housed at the Indiana Historical Society, the IJHS collects thousands of items reflecting Jewish life across the state and continuously seeks new materials to enrich its collections. Supported by generous contributions and the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis, the society also publishes a quarterly newsletter and a journal dedicated to Indiana Jewish history.
