Lutheran Child & Family Services, based in Indianapolis, is a multiservice, nonprofit member agency of the United Way of Central Indiana. The agency offers a range of services, such as adoption and foster care services. It sponsors adoption information meetings to provide information about the adoption process and the special needs children who are available for adoption or foster care in Indiana. It also provides community services, such as distributing free food and clothing to families referred to the program by caseworkers, township trustees, pastors and other social service organizations. The agency operates two facilities and each location has a food pantry and clothing bank. Its counselors are clinically trained and certified to resolve individual and family crises. The agency also offers support groups, psychiatric and social service referrals, and family life education seminars and workshops.
