Established in 1958, the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is a part of the Indiana University school of Medicine. The division specializes in endoscopic ultrasound and retrograde cholangiopancreatography procedures. It offers liver transplant, colorectal cancer screening and inflammatory bowel disease treatment programs. The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology provides a range of luminal endoscopic services, including photodynamic therapy, radiofrequency ablation, argon plasma coagulation and luminal stenting for the early detection of cancer. In addition, the division uses miniscopes to detect pancreatic stone. It also undertakes research projects on various topics related to drug hepatotoxicity, alcoholic liver diseases and colorectal cancer screening.
