Fountaintown Community Volunteer Fire Department
The Fountaintown Volunteer Fire Department, located in Northern Shelby County, Indiana, has been serving the community since 1957. This combination department consists of 20 dedicated men and women who provide fire rescue, ALS, and BLS transport services to approximately 8,000 residents across 55 square miles in Fountaintown and surrounding townships.
Initially established with the support of local trustees, the department has grown significantly over the years, fueled by community interest and donations. After a tornado destroyed the original station in 1974, a new facility was built and dedicated in 1975, which now houses six pieces of fire equipment, a kitchen, an office, and a meeting room.
