Helm St. Church of God had it's beginning in a residence at 816 W. Melbourne Ave. in the year 1917, when Bro. P.B. Turner, Bro. John Merica and Bro. Marshall Mercer held a meeting there. The Lord sent Bro. Turner to be our first pastor. He rented a store building at 712 Helm Street for our first meeting place. We called it the "Little Mission'.
