John “Jack” H. Ditslear III, MD, is a native of Noblesville, Indiana, where he first felt the desire to help people through medicine and surgery at an early age, after experiencing his own surgery as well as the death of a classmate from complications of heart surgery. He graduated with honors in chemistry from Miami University in Ohio and then graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine. During medical school, Dr. Ditslear was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society for Academic Honors. He completed his general surgery residency at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and a member of American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Dr. Ditslear is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His clinical interest and specialty is in minimally-invasive general and bariatric surgery using advanced laparoscopic techniques. Dr. Ditslear is on the teaching staff for the Indiana University general surgery residency program. He is married to Janet and is the father of four children. When not at work, Dr. Ditslear enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and coaching and playing soccer.
