Wood Library-Museum of Anesthesiology

Established in 1905, the American Society of Anesthesiologists is an educational, research and scientific association of physicians who specialize in the medical practice of anesthesiology. Its members include more than 43,000 physicians and scientists from throughout the world. The association offers practice management and patient safety services. The American Society of Anesthesiologists sponsors annual educational programs for anesthesiologists that include information related to latest developments in anesthesiology and related medical fields. The association is a member of the Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States. Headquartered in Park Ridge, Ill., the American Society of Anesthesiologists maintains a location in Washington, D.C.
