Transportation Dept

The Illinois Department of Transportation, governed by the State of Illinois, offers a range of planning and programming solutions for public transportation tasks. The department, also known as IDOT, annually publishes detailed traffic information based on a statewide traffic count program. It administers the Illinois Safe Routes to School Program (SRTS), which is a federal funding program. In addition, the Illinois Department of Transportation provides a range of winter driving tips. The department, in cooperation with federal, state and regional agencies, develops and maintains an integrated planning process for efficient and economical transportation services. It also scholarship programs for students pursuing pre-engineering and civil engineering programs.
