About Maple Run Farm, LLC Maple Run Farm, LLC is a small Hanoverian breeding farm located in South Central Wisconsin. It is owned by Dr. Douglas Langer, DVM and his wife Shannon. They are commited to breeding quality Hanoverian sporthorses that have the mind, conformation, breeding, and talent to become FEI level dressage partners. Horses have been a life-long passion for both Doug and Shannon. Dreams were made early on, and in 1999 they took the first step into breeding and were totally hooked. Research into pedigrees and performance records, and careful selection of stallions to mares, has evolved their small breeding business into one that has been very successful in producing outstanding foals. While only breeding 4-5 foals each year, they have been fortunate enough to produce inspection site champions every year but one, and that year both of their colts were called back into the final ring. Their goal is to improve the Hanoverian breed in this country, producing foals with excellent minds, correct conformation, and the ability for upper level dressage work. An owner, and doctor, specializing in surgery and lameness at The Wisconsin Equine Clinic, ( a large equine referral hospital ) Doug also has a strong interest and Masters Degree in nutrition. That knowledge has been pertinent in not only providing a balanced diet for our horses, but also in educating horse owners on the importance of a correct balanced feeding program for preventing growth related problems in young horses. Starting even before mares are in foal, diet has a tremendous effect on the health of future foals. An individualized, balanced diet is created for each of our horses. We have been strong supporters of the Progressive and Buckeye Feeds, which have done extensive research in providing the proper vitamin and mineral balance for the pregnant, growing, performance, and aged horse. Along with this feed, high quality grass/alfalfa hay is fed free choice when pastures are not available.
