In operation for over a century, St. Edward Catholic School provides faith-based education to students in preschool through grade eight. Administered by the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, the school, based in Chicago, Ill., has a strength of nearly 400 students from Mayfair and surrounding neighborhoods. Besides core academic subjects, its curriculum includes instruction in art, health, physical education and religious education classes. Offering small class sizes, the school additionally offers opportunities, including full day and half day preschool and kindergarten programs, full athletic sports program, music and foreign language classes, student council, academic clubs and contests, scouting and modern computer laboratories. Other enrichment programs include community service opportunities and fund raising events.
