Industry is a surface mine that produces about 500,000 tons annually and is located in McDonough and Schuyler counties of Illinois. Freeman Energy, a part of the Material Service Resources Company, is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics Corporation, a major defense contractor. The company is in Springfield, Ill.
