Rock River Valley Blood Center

Rock River Valley Blood Center provides blood products and services to people and is located in Rockford, Ill. It was founded in 1950 and employs more than 100 people, including a medical director and health care and housekeeping professionals. The center works in association with local hospitals, physicians and civic groups. Its donor care program is responsible for assessing a donor's suitability to donate blood and to collect safe blood products. Its laboratory staff provides services, such as preparation of blood products, blood testing, labeling of blood products, management of inventory control and the distribution of blood products to the hospitals. The center is a nonprofit organization governed by more than 10 members of board of directors.
