Redwood Counseling & Wellness Centre

History

Redwood Counseling & Wellness Centre was built on Sertoma Centre's firm foundation. Sertoma Centre is a non-profit organization that has served individuals diagnosed with various disabilities since 1971. At that time, Sertoma Centre served 11 individuals in 3,000 square feet of space donated by the Lombard Family at 4343 W. 123rd Street in Alsip, Illinois. Today, there are over 650 individuals with disabilities that benefit from 13 programs at 2 facilities in Alsip, 9 residential homes throughout the south and southwest suburbs, and a strip mall in Matteson that houses the Good as New Thrift Store and Training Centre, the Mental Health Services Program, and Redwood Counseling and Wellness Centre. In 2010, Redwood Counseling & Wellness Centre was established in effort to extend mental health and wellness services to individuals, couples, families, and the larger community. Our mission is to provide educational and therapeutic services that promote personal and community wellness.

Specialties

Redwood offers a variety of services which include: Individual Counseling/Therapy: the treatment of mental and emotional disorders through the use of psychological techniques. Individuals work with a therapist to identify past/current difficulties that are causing distress to gain insight and take necessary steps toward symptom reduction, changes in behavior, and personality growth. Couple/Relationship/Marital Therapy: counseling the parties of a relationship to recognize and better manage/reconcile the problems, differences, and/or repeating patterns of distress within the relationship.
