History

It was started by planting 100 cocoa trees in Pahoa, Puna District and expanded across eastern Big Island as we planted orchards for other farmers. We made our own chocolate in Hilo and then expanded to Kona in 2018 after the massive Fissure 8 lava eruption had us seek less explosive terrain.

Specialties

Puna Chocolate grows cocoa beans across Big Island Hawaii for its chocolate made on site. It is a simple workshop using minimal ingredients to make fantastic chocolate. You pay for great chocolate grown on Hawaii, not fancy packaging. Cacao trees are potted outside and you can arrange to visit our farm. Buy bean-to-bar favorites as well as cocoa drinks.
