Village of Arlington Heights provides community development services through various departments, such as building, engineering, planning and community development, public works, fire and police departments. Located in Arlington Heights, Ill., it is a legislative body that has been operational for more than 50 years. It operates a special board that comprises several members who serve as the community s decision-makers. Village of Arlington Heights represents the council-manager form of government. Its public works department is responsible for the maintenance of municipally owned streets and sidewalks, trees, water and sewer systems, buildings, grounds, street lights and traffic signals. The Hinckley Fire Department provides fire suppression and emergency medical services for more than 2,500 citizens in an area of over 64 square miles. It responds to nearly 200 emergency calls annually, as well as provides advanced life support treatment and transportation services. The department consists of a fire chief, firefighters and emergency medical technicians. It maintains a fleet of engines, pumpers, aerial and brush trucks, tankers and ambulances. Hinckley Fire Department offers a cadet program that focuses on the development of firefighting skills. The department is located in Hinckley, Ill.
