Palmisano Park, formerly known as Stearns Quarry, is a 26.60-acre site located in the heart of Chicago's Bridgeport community. This dynamic park offers a range of amenities including a fishing pond, interpretive wetlands, preserved quarry walls, trails, athletic fields, and scenic overlooks providing dramatic city views.
Transformed from a coral reef to a quarry to a landfill and now a park, Palmisano Park's environmentally-sustainable design was inspired by its natural history dating back 400 million years. Visitors can explore over 1.7 miles of paths, including recycled timber boardwalks and concrete walks, offering a variety of experiences along the quarry wall, wetlands, and pond.
