National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows

The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, located in Belleville, lll., is a ministry of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate and is one of the largest outdoor shrines in North America. The site blends spirituality, architecture and landscaping to create an appropriate setting. The main shrine sets in a valley surrounded by trees and flowers, with an amphitheatre of more than 2,400 seats, and grassy slopes that can accommodate larger crowds for special liturgies, concerts and events. More than 10 devotional areas are located throughout the shrine grounds, each providing a setting for prayer, reflection and meditation. The shrine is open throughout the year, and also has a restaurant, hotel, conference center, gift shop and bookstore. Each year more than 1 million people of all faiths visit the shrine.
