About BSD88Bellwood School District 88 is composed of the villages of Bellwood, Maywood, Hillside, Broadview, Melrose Park, and Stone Park. We are located approximately ten miles directly west of Downtown Chicago. The District 88 community with a population of approximately 20, 000 is an attractive, striving community in which residents cite excellent village services, affordable housing ; and improving schools as examples of positive factors within the community. The populations of the seven school sites are culturally rich and economically diverse. The racial composition of School District 88 is African- American- 70%, Hispanic- 27.4%, White 1.9%, and Asian - 0.6%.Serving approximately 3, 400 pupils in its seven schools, the District 88 Board Of Education has committed itself to providing a quality educational program for each of its pupils.Increasing student performance is the number one goal of School District 88. To reach our goal, all programs have been designed to improve academic performance. Some of District 88's programs include:

Roosevelt Middle is a learning facility that serves students in grades seven and eight. The facility is a part of Bellwood School District 88, which manages primary, elementary and middle schools. The district offers food and transportation services. It provides special education classes to students through its schools. The district serves more than 3,000 people in over five schools. Bellwood School District 88 offers after-school programs.

Jefferson Elementary School is an educational institution that provides a variety of academic options to students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. The school has an enrollment of more than 350 students. It supplies a variety of stationary items that includes pens, rulers, folders, pencils, calculators, erasers, markers, scissors and notebooks. Jefferson Elementary School s educational programs include instruction in computer, art, physical education, reading and music. The school maintains computer laboratories and offers speech therapy services. It maintains a parent-teacher organization that encourages parental involvement in children s education. Jefferson Elementary School operates a library that has a selection of books. Located in Bellwood, Ill., it provides meal services. The school is a part of Berkeley School District 87.
