It was founded by Mario Licitra to offer eminent roofing methods to clients, resulting in a superior finished roof. The experience and integrity of Mario and his employees speak for themselves. All employees are trained in the latest roofing methods and receive ongoing education and OSHA training yearly. In fact, the two crew foremen are brothers and have been a part of Licitra for nearly as long as it has been in business. Two of Mario's children, Jonathan and Michael, have now joined the business, offering continuity for the future, as well as the newer business techniques necessary for a business to survive in the ever-changing economic environment. We are pleased to offer our customers workmanship warranties which are much longer than the industry standard of five years. These extended warranties - some of which are twenty years or more - are directly backed by the manufacturer and will transfer to new owners if you sell your home. Licitra Roofing carries an unlimited State of Illinois License; meaning we are insured, bonded, and approved to work on steep-slope (shingled) and flat or low-slope roofs. We are a Better Business Bureau Accredited Business and are active members of both the Chicago Roofing Contractors Association and the National Roofing Contractors Association. Licitra also carries special credentials from the manufacturers we use, including a 5 Star Select Shingle Master from CertainTeed, and a Golden Star designation from CertainTeed for low-slope applications. A Bit More About Our Founder Mario Licitra immigrated to the United States from Italy as a ten year old. He dreamed of becoming a dentist. But as he worked his way through pre-dental school in construction, he struggled to save enough money to pay for dental school. With his construction knowledge and college degree, he was hired by a reputable roofing company to estimate and sell roofing services to commercial and residential clients. Realizing his passion for the roofing profession, he set out to become as knowledgeable as he could about the roofing industry. Before long, he was able to start his own company. Mario made up his mind. He was still going to "fix" things, but instead of teeth, he was going to "fix" roofs. In 1987 he left the firm he was working for, hired the most qualified crew he could find, and set out on his own. He spent the days looking for business and supervising the roofing projects. At night he spent long hours in the basement working on the books and performing the necessary "secretarial" functions! In essence, he was the business (seven days a week, every week). His business grew as his family grew. Mario founded the company expecting to be a flat roof commercial contractor. But, by being an active community member, he encountered many homeowners who asked if he would re-roof their house. He decided it made sense to change his business focus to include shingle roofs as well. To this day, Licitra Roofing remains committed to exceptional quality workmanship for both the commercial client and the homeowner.
