HistorySince 1991, over 800 single mothers and children have entered the FHC program with 84% of participants graduating to independent living. Based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and serving women from across Chicagoland and the northwest suburbs, FHC was started by a local group of concerned citizens who wanted to establish a program which would meet not only emergency housing needs, but also facilitate empowerment through teaching skills that leads to sustaining long-term independence. FHC works exclusively with single women over the age of 21 with three or fewer children. To qualify for FHC services, they must also have a job and own an automobile. Clients typically range from 21 to 45 years of age and come from all cultural, racial and religious backgrounds. The majority are divorced w/ little or no dependable child support. Through a variety of circumstances, they can't afford independent housing, may be facing immediate eviction, living in borrowed rooms or even living in their car.SpecialtiesFellowship Housing is an independent, 501c3 non-profit organization that serves the needs of single moms and their children who are homeless or one small crisis away from homelessness. The mission of Fellowship Housing is to demonstrate Christ-like love by serving single moms and their children through a two year transitional housing program that focuses on accountability and a path to independence.
