MGN History MGN Lock-Key & Safes is a full service shop with showroom and mobile shop company. Founded in the early 1970's, we have since prided ourselves on being "The Old Fashioned Locksmith", because we care about our customers and their needs. We maintain the old fashioned ideals, but provide our customers with 21st Century technology. Magnus and Marie Norlin, working out of their home in Mundelein, founded the business. Started originally as a part-time business, it evolved into full time when they opened a storefront shop at the current location in 1980. MGN Lock-Key and Safes was incorporated in February 1987. In 1984 their son Carl Norlin, now current owner, joined the business fulltime. We hired a second full time outside technician in 1988. After Marie passed away in early 1990 we hired a full time shop person. In 1994 the founder Magnus passed away and we added an additional fulltime outside technician. In 1997 we added an inside sales person. Our advantage is "working smart". We maximize the abilities of our employees and draw on their individual special talents. Over the last 15 years we have expanded our shop & showroom space 2 times (doubling each time). With over 2300 sq ft. of floor space, we can display and market a wide variety of products. By displaying our safe line safe sales have been growing steadily. Likewise our sales of padlocks and general lock hardware have continued to grow over the years. Besides the features discussed earlier, MGN Lock- Key & Safes is still a home grown family owned business and that extra and friendly service is what makes us successful. These qualities are hard to find these days amidst mass merchants and mega stores. We believe you can buy things most anywhere, but you cannot purchase that product with friendly knowledgeable service everywhere.
