Heidtman Steel Products Inc

F. William Heidtman formed Heidtman Steel in 1954. The small, family-owned operation offered leveling and shearing services when it was incorporated in 1962 in Ohio. Its capabilities expanding by investments in equipment and acquisitions or by building additional service center facilities. Steel slitting equipment was purchased in 1971. In the mid-1970s, the company helped pioneer the certification and marketing of high-strength low-alloy sheet steels. In 1979, the company became a flat rolled steel service center by constructing a continuous hydrochloric pickling facility in Bedford, Mich. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Heidtman expanded the size and scope of its operations. The company operates throughout the Upper Midwest and Maryland. It serves a variety of industries from automotive, truck and bus manufacturers to furniture, appliances, and heating, ventilation and cooling and other steel service centers. Heidtman Steel is in Granite City, Ill.
