How to Prepare for a Lab Test When your physican orders a specific lab test for you, he or she will give you the proper directions in order to prepare for the test. Many tests do not require any special instructions prior to the tests. Others require preparation, such as fasting. Ask your physician or nurse for any specific preparation that you need to make prior to your lab test. Scheduling a Lab Test If your physician has ordered a lab test for you, call our outpatient registration department to schedule your appointment. Outpatient registration: 847-990-6000. IMPORTANT! Condell's Laboratory requires a written order by your physician for lab tests. Either your physician can fax us the order or you can bring in the written order at the time of your appointment.
