History

FugScreens came about through a desire to share the love of print-making with others. Having taught 12-16 yr olds on the South side of Chicago, the owner saw that the simple and effective outcomes of screen-printing could be shared by many. Since a studio was already present, which could facilitate teaching, FugScreens began advertising and slowly gained momentum through word of mouth. The owner (and teacher) enjoys creating work with others who bring their own perspective to an art form that has been around for thousands of years. Currently there are over 20 students enrolled. FugScreens is always looking to expand.

Specialties

Fugscreens Studios specializes in teaching anyone who would like to explore their creative tendencies. All skill levels are taught, from beginning to advanced. Anyone who shows enough independence and the desire to grow may use the facilities in their own time. Various screen-printing techniques are offered; from drawn stencils to photo stencils, from fine art paper printing to textiles, FugScreens will help you in whichever direction you wish to go. Students can take classes as seriously or as lightly as they wish. All classes are privately taught with a usual maximum of 3 students at a time. The facilities you will find at FugScreens are some of the best in the city. Using only water-based inks, the shop is entirely solvent free. Technique is stressed above all. You will go away a hardened print-maker.

I totally agree with Mei D. Was disppointed with our groupon class. Even if the design for the print was selected before hand, why couldn't a more universally appealing design be chosen?
