The Evanston History Center collects, preserves, and interprets the rich history of the City of Evanston and all its people through tours, exhibits, educational programs, community events, and research facilities. The Center is located in the National Historic Landmark Charles Gates Dawes House. Dawes was a U.S. Vice President, World War I general, Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Ambassador to the Court of St. James and philanthropist who lived in Evanston, Illinois. Tours of the Dawes House include exhibits on Evanston history. The Center is open for tours Thursday through Sunday, on the hour from 1 - 4pm. Please check the website for closure notices.
