Emanuel Congregation is a Reform synagogue and a member of the Union for Reform Judaism. Founded in 1880 by a few families, is has been a part of the Chicago Jewish community ever since and has grown to nearly 500 families. Michael Zedek, our Senior Rabbi, joined the congregation in July of 2004 after 25 years in Kansas City. Working with Congregational Cantor Shelly Drucker Friedman and Rabbi Emeritus Hermann Schaalman, he has continued the vibrant legacy of Emanuel.
