I do swear more on the Ike than most other stretches of highway, but as an Oak Parker of 20 years, raised in Elmhurst, I gotta give some love to 290, the Eisenhower expressway, aka "The Ike"....

The Eisenhower Expressway in Cicero, IL is a major transportation project that is currently undergoing evaluation and planning for reconstruction. The project aims to address the transportation needs of the expressway and improve its overall efficiency. The Illinois Department of Transportation is actively working on evaluating financial plans and methods to deliver this improvement, considering the limited available state and federal funding.
In June of 2017, the project received federal approval for the Final Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision, which identified the addition of tolled managed lanes as the selected alternative. This alternative includes the provision for transit improvements and the conversion of existing general-purpose lanes. The project is part of a larger effort to enhance the transportation infrastructure in the region and improve traffic flow along the Eisenhower Expressway.

One of the most bottleneck corridors in Chicago. Anything going in or out of the City after 7am or 4pm expect long traffic line filled with cars
290 is the worst. Every time I sit in bumper to bumper traffic at 6pm on a Sunday, a very small part of me dies. However, I do give it 2 stars because it no longer smells like methane in Hillside.
