United Stand Counseling Center
United Stand Counseling Center is a Catholic not-for-profit agency located in Chicago, affiliated with the Felician Sisters of North America. Established in 1987, it was founded to provide essential counseling services to the local youth in response to the challenges faced by teenagers in the Back of the Yards area.
The agency originated from a grant proposal written by Felician Sister Kim Mis and Mary Lou Cragg at St. Joseph High School, aimed at addressing the stress, conflict, and violence encountered by young individuals. With the support of Reverend James Close from Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, United Stand was created to help uplift and support Chicago's youth in their everyday journeys.
