Chicago North Chinese School (CNCS) in Des Plaines, IL, established in 1981, is dedicated to offering a rich learning experience in Chinese language and culture to the Chicago community. From kindergarten to high school levels and beyond, CNCS provides language courses and cultural activities. Run as a non-profit, the school relies on the commitment of 9 administrative officers and 12 teachers, many of whom are parents of enrolled students.
At CNCS, students can enroll in one of the eleven levels of Chinese language classes conducted on Sundays from late August to mid-May. The curriculum caters to both Mandarin and non-Mandarin-speaking families, as well as adults. Recognized as an Ethnic Language Program by the Illinois State Board of Education since 1994, CNCS also offers various cultural and athletic classes such as Chinese yo-yo and badminton.
With a strong sense of community, CNCS fosters a supportive environment for learners of all ages. The school is sustained by the dedication of over 15 administrative officers and more than 20 teachers, predominantly parents of students. Through its comprehensive programs, CNCS continues to uphold its mission of promoting Chinese language and culture within the Chicago area.
