C-U Special Recreation

Champaign-Urbana Special Recreation, also known as CUSR, was formed through a cooperative agreement between Champaign and Urbana Park districts in Illinois to provide recreation programs and leisure services for residents with disabilities. It has a range of inclusion and specialized programs for people with disabilities. The organization adapts various equipment and safety devices to meet the needs of participants. Located in Urbana, Ill., it organizes a range of field tours, holiday parties and fishing trips. Champaign-Urbana Special Recreation offers volunteer opportunities in Olympics bowling, softball and volleyball, as well as cooking classes, dance shows and bingo games. Additionally, it conducts summer camps that focus on swimming, games, music instruction, and arts and crafts activities for children between the ages of 4 and 12.
