Ariza Resource Center

History

Dr. Kelley Mathews open Ariza Resource Center, Inc. in 2001. We provided DUI services to DuPage County and Cook County. Prior to opening Ariza, Dr. Mathews had managed the DUI Services for Illinois Alcohol and Drug Evaluation Services in Peoria, IL. Her experience at the two locations lead her to develop a specialized DUI service designed to reduce repeat DUI's. This program focused on social and party drinkers with little or no previous legal problems aside from the DUI. Further, she help the program accountable to this goal by following up with her students to see if they got subsequent DUI's. As far as we can tell, she has pioneered the idea that DUI providers should be held accountable for the quality of their service by tracking repeat DUIs. This approach has been hugely successful and Dr. Mathews repeat DUI rate is 2.5% compared to the state average of 15%. Dr. Mathews manages to achieve these results while providing a relaxed, respectful environment to her students.

Specialties

Ariza Resource Center, Inc. specializes in providing court and state required DUI services to non-dependent social and party drinkers. We teach alcohol risk management strategies rather than preach abstinence. Students who do well in our program have had few legal problems if any and describe themselves as social drinkers.
