Home Appliance Center Story To trace the history of Home Appliance Center you must go all the way back to the year 1953. In that year a home appliance service company was formed in in Swansea IL, that companies name was East Side Service. Its name derived from the fact that it was in the service industry, and it served the St. Louis metro east, east of the Mississippi River. Initially East Side Service focused on completing warranty work and answering general service calls for Frigidaire appliances. Over the years East Side Service built a large customer base in the St. Louis metro east, and ultimately found itself not only servicing and completing warranty work for Frigidaire, but also most all other brands on the market. In fact when you purchase an appliance from one of those large nationwide home stores, we will most likely get the call when all does not go well. You must understand, those large stores to an excellent job of displaying and selling products, and helping customers while they are in the store by providing trained sales associates, but they do not staff a team of radio dispatched service technicians, rather they call a manufacturers authorized warranty and service provider such as East Side Service. In 1986 Ray Korte, an East Side Service employee / manager, purchased East Side Service. Shortly after the purchase of East Side Service Ray opened Home Appliance Center offering Frigidaire home appliances and parts to complement the service business he already had. Ray enlisted the services of his wife Carol and son Mark to help oversee the daily functions of both the service as well as sales aspects of both businesses. Today Home Appliance is still owned and operated by the Korte family, in fact Ray himself still makes service calls daily !!!! But the ownership responsibility has been passed to his son Mark who has again enhanced the family business to now include home electronics as well as the appliances and service that has always been proudly provided. With its new generation Home Appliance Center offers everything from custom built computers to home theatre products such as giant plasma screen televisions Tivo systems and DVD players / recorders, as well as the washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc. etc. that have been a mainstay for Home Appliance Center. We even offer central vacuum systems as well as heating and air-conditioning products.
