Near the end of 2002 a few people approached Minister Larry Johnson and expressed a desire to have a congregation established in this community that would adequately meet both their spiritual and physical needs. Minister Johnson and his wife (Margarette) began to seriously pray about this request and challenge. For five months they prayed every day, asking God's direction and guidance in accepting this challenge. In early 2003, Minister Johnson met with five people in a business conference room in Normal, Illinois and shared with them the vision God had put on his heart regarding the establishment of a church of Christ in this community.
