Stimson Lumber Company is a privately held forest products and natural resource company based in Portland, Ore. With its roots established in the 1850s, the company is one of the oldest forest products companies in the United States. Stimson manages approximately 500,000 acres of timberland that it harvests and mills to create lumber, plywood, hardwood and siding. Stimson Lumber Company has assets and operations in Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. The company s Priest River, Idaho, location produces 2-by-4 and 2-by-6 studs, as well as railroad ties. The company sells its products to customers throughout the United States and in selected international markets. Stimson Lumber Company is a participant in the American Forest & Paper Association s Sustainable Forestry Initiative program, which encourages loggers and foresters to promote and support sustainable, environmentally sound forestry practices.
