Dyke's Electric started as an electrical contracting business in 1953 by journeyman electrician, Arnold Dykman, on Poleline Road in Pocatello, Idaho. The local tradesmen knew him by his nickname "Dyke", that is what he named the new business. During the 1960's, operations were expanded to include electric motor sales, repairs, rewinding and machine work. As an electrical contracting business, Dykes's Electric participated in the construction of many businesses, shopping malls, restaurants, and homes in the Pocatello area. The motor shop capabilities grew to provide support for many industries and entities such as agriculture, irrigation, food processing, plastics manufacturing, steel manufacturing, railroad transportation, mining and processing, lumber mills, rocket motor and munitions manufacturing, electric power utilities, barley malting, municipal water supply and waste water treatment throughout Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon and Utah.
