Huntsville Literary Association

The Huntsville Literary Association, established in 1967, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and celebrating the art of poetry. Their literary magazine, POEM, is highly regarded as one of the finest poetry publications in the United States, featuring a selection of the best poems from national and international submissions. With a focus on both traditional forms and free verse, POEM seeks poems that exhibit compression, rich vocabulary, significant content, and a skilled use of language.

Published twice a year, POEM is a perfect bound, digest-sized magazine printed on high-quality paper, showcasing over 60 poems and notes on contributors in each issue. While the Huntsville Literary Association generally accepts about five percent of the poems submitted, they welcome submissions from both established and emerging poets. As a volunteer organization, they can only offer contributors two copies of the magazine as payment. Subscriptions to POEM are available for out-of-town readers, providing them with a regular dose of exceptional poetry.
