Hearts of Promise

Hearts of Promise is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 by Tracy and Candace Turner, along with Wayne and Carolyn Saunders, with the mission to raise funds for cardiac tissue engineering research conducted by Dr. John Mayer at Boston Children's Hospital. Their goal is to develop technology that allows heart valves to be grown from a child's own tissue, eliminating the need for multiple open-heart surgeries.

With congenital heart defects being a common birth defect, occurring in nearly 1 in every 100 births in the United States, Hearts of Promise aims to address the underfunding in research for the treatment of these defects. Through generous donations, they have already contributed over $200,000 towards this life-changing research, and they continue to raise funds until cardiac tissue engineering of heart valves becomes a reality.
