History

After working as a scuba instructor for other companies, I started doing shore dive guiding and instruction on my own. In 2003 I bought the boat and started building the boat business. In 2007 we took the boat out of service for several months for a complete rebuild and remodel, and it's been steady charters since. We're a small company. We typically have all of 3-4 employees. Dive with us for several days and it won't be a merry-go-round of new guides to get familiar with each day. I've been leading dives here since '99, and I try to hire crew with similar or greater experience. Our office is located across the highway from Honokohau Marina (the main harbor for most of the dive boats in Kona) above the Tesoro gas station. We can meet there for paperwork and gear sizing, or meet at the boat for the same... no need to go into town before charters. Join us and let us share our enthusiasm for diving with you!

Specialties

Wanna Dive offers personal scuba diving charters off their dive boat in Kona Hawaii. We carry a max of 6 passengers on our boat that features plenty of shade. We offer 2 tank day dives and 2 tank late afternoon/evening manta ray dives (called one of the top dives in the world!). Tanks, weights, water, sport drink, sandwich and snacks are included on all 2 tank dives. Gear is available and reasonably priced if needed. We run slow paced charters, computer profile dives, all dives are guided. A US Coast Guard licensed Captain remains on board at all times. Our crew is experienced and we know where the critters are hiding. Camera friendly. Intro dives for non-certified divers and dive courses are available.

This is a good company for dive trips. I did 3 two tank dives with them - including a manta night dive. The boat is small and there was no more that 6 divers on any one trip. The dive masters were...

When I first went to Kona I dove with the larger companies. Great diving (can't help it in Kona) but I felt like part of the herd on the cattle car. I have decided that small operations (six...
