Three Mountain Alliance Foundation
The Three Mountain Alliance (TMA) is a watershed partnership established in 2007, encompassing 1,116,300 acres or 45% of Hawaii Island. With 11 partners, TMA aims to be responsible stewards of the watershed areas, native habitats, and species, preserving the historical, cultural, and socio-economic resources linked to the three mountains: Kīlauea, Mauna Loa, and Hualālai.
Committed to environmental and cultural preservation, TMA protects numerous endangered species and has planted over 116,000 seedlings since its inception. Through its education and outreach program, Imi Pono, TMA fosters connections to the land and instills a sense of kuleana, or responsibility, in individuals towards the stewardship of Hawaii's natural resources.
